Important Information about this Index

 

The following are brief explanations for some of the columns and terms included in the “Index - Potential Changes to Ontario’s Building Code”:

  • “Code Reference” means the provision of the current Building Code (Ontario Regulation 332/12 as amended) that may be affected by the proposal, if adopted.

  • A “Topic” has been identified for certain Building Code proposals in cases where those proposals support areas referred to in the Overview Summary Document. When a “Topic” cell is empty those proposals are not specially referenced in the Overview Summary Document.

  • In “Source”, mNBC or mNPC, is a reference to the model national codes which include the model National Building Code of Canada and the model National Plumbing Code of Canada.  These proposals, if adopted, would serve to increase harmonization between Ontario’s Building Code and the model national codes.
