Background

NOTE: Some Examination Sites may be cancelled due to weather conditions.  We will reschedule those sites at the earliest opportunity.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The following table outlines the location, dates, times and status of Building Code examinations offered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.  The Building Code examinations are offered as part of the examination program administered or authorized by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing under clauses 3.2.1.(1)(a), 3.1.3.1.(1)(a) and (b), 3.1.4.1.(1)(a) and 3.1.4.2.(1)(a) of Division C of the Building Code.

Prospective candidates are advised to review the following documents:

• Examination Program and advanced standing policy as applicable for the type of qualification you seek (building official, designer, on-site sewage system installer, and Registered Code Agency)  
• Examination Syllabi - 2006 The topics that will be covered in each technical and legal/process qualification examinations.

There are two ways to submit a completed 2006 Examination Application. In the first instance, you may click on 2006 Examination Application, print the document and mail it or send it by fax to the Building and Development Branch. The forwarding information is on the form. In the second instance, if you have previously submitted an application for a Building Code examination, qualification or registration and have been assigned user identification and a password by the Building and Development Branch, you may electronically submit your 2006 Examination Application at this link, or by accessing QuARTS on the Building Code Website at www.ontario.ca/buildingcode.

Prospective applicants should note that applications:

• Must be filed using the approved form;
• You must file your application at least 21 days before the date of the examination sought;
• The ministry will send you an Examination Confirmation Notice if you are booked into your selected examination session(s). The Examination Confirmation Notice will indicate the location, date and time of your examination, as well as your Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) for all future references with the ministry. Note: You must bring the Notice of Confirmation and photo identification with you on the day of your exam.

Examination Schedule

The following examination schedule is "rolling" - that is , it will be continually updated with new exam locations, dates, and statuses (i.e. "open" to reserve a seat/exam, "pending" - expected to open soon, "full" -all seats are accounted for, and "closed" - application date has passed.)  Check this page often for new examination sites and changes in status of posted sites.
