BUILDING CODE COMMISSION DECISION ON B.C.C. #94-02-380

IN THE MATTER OF BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Ontario Building Code, O. Reg, 413/90

PART 3,

Clause 3.2.9.1.(1)

Requirement for standpipe and hose systems.

COMMISSION RULING:

In favour of the APPLICANT.

Regarding the question of whether a standpipe and hose system is required throughout the proposed Bata Shoe Museum located at 327 Bloor Street West in Toronto, being a building three storeys in height with two basement levels, or only in its two basement levels.

It is the decision of the Building Code Commission that a standpipe and hose system is only required on the two basement levels.

REASON:

Sentence 3.2.9.1.(1) of the Ontario Building Code, O. Reg. 413/90 clearly indicates that the standpipe and hose system is only required on the two basement levels.

Dated at Toronto this 22nd day in the month of February in the year 1994 for application number 1994-02.
