The consultation has been concluded. This information is available for reference purpose only.

The Government of Ontario is working with municipalities, stakeholders and the public to monitor the effect of the Provincial Policy Statement, 2005 (PPS, 2005), specifically to assess progress in the key areas of building strong communities, maintaining a clean and healthy environment, and protecting public health and safety.

Policy 4.10 of the PPS, 2005 includes a commitment of the Province, in consultation with municipalities, other public bodies and stakeholders, to identify performance indicators for measuring the effectiveness of some or all of the policies. This commitment includes monitoring the implementation of the policies, including reviewing performance indicators concurrent with any review of the Provincial Policy Statement. To help achieve this commitment, the Government of Ontario is proposing a performance monitoring framework and draft indicators for the PPS, 2005.

The Government invites you to give suggestions that will help in the development, improvement and refinement of the proposed framework and draft indicators.

The following discussion paper includes a set of draft indicators. Please review and comment, taking note of the identified questions when providing your comments. Comments can be sent electronically or by mail on or before June 19, 2009.
