McGuinty Government Honours Municipal Official
District Municipality of Muskoka Chair Gord Adams (right) receives Long-standing Service Award from Parliamentary Assistant Mario Sergio at the 2009 Central Ontario Municipal Symposium.
District Municipality of Muskoka Chair Gord Adams is the recipient of a 25-year Long-standing Service Award.
Adams was one of three municipally-elected officials recognized for long-standing service at the 2009 Central Ontario Municipal Symposium in Vaughan.
Long-standing service awards are given to municipally-elected officials with at least 25 years of service. The program was introduced by the Ontario government in 2004. As of 2006, those with 50 years of service are also recognized.
Gord Adams has distinguished himself as councillor and mayor of the District Municipality of Muskoka and in the different committees and associations he has served on. He is currently District Chair and member of all committees of council as well as Vice Chair of the Simcoe Muskoka District Board of Health. Adams was instrumental in the creation of the Norwegian-Canadian Memorial to commemorate the Royal Norwegian Air Force training at the Muskoka airport during World War II.
