Dear Minister
Re: Greenbelt Council Advice to the Minister regarding the Expansion of the Greenbelt
The Greenbelt Council is concerned that there may be countryside areas beyond the existing boundaries of the Greenbelt which exhibit pressures, conditions, or other circumstances which could cause the Government to consider extending the protection of the Greenbelt to such other areas.
Therefore, the Council advises:
- That the Ministry should develop criteria with which to define countryside areas to which the Greenbelt should be extended
- That the Council would be pleased to review such criteria and offer further advice Thank you for the opportunity to provide advice on this matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Elgie
Chair
Greenbelt Council
