Planning application fees

Land use planning fees are charges on the following applications that are submitted to the Minister of Municipal Affairs:

Plan of subdivision/ condominium* $3,723 + $100 per lot/block over 40 lots/blocks $10,200 + $100 per lot/block over 100 lots/blocks
Minister’s zoning order amendment* $2,040 $7,956
Ontario planning and development act plan amendment (e.g., Parkway Belt West plan amendments)* n/a $6,273
Official plan amendments non-exempt, except for:
  • 5 year reviews under section 26 of the planning act; and
  • planning board

* Applicants will be also required to cover the ministry's cost for providing public notice (e.g., advertising) for consents, plans of subdivision/ condominium, ministry's zoning order amendments and Ontario planning and development act plan amendments.

How do I pay the fee?

  • Payments should be made by certified cheque or money order payable to the Minister of Finance.
  • The required fee must accompany theses planning applications. If a fee is not paid, the application may be returned.
  • If you are unsure whether you pay the north or south planning fee, find your region’s Municipal Services Office of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
    • northern municipalities are covered by our Sudbury and Thunder Bay offices.
    • southern municipalities are covered by our east, west and central offices.
