The OMPF replaced the Community Reinvestment Fund as the Province's main transfer payment to municipalities in 2005.
The OMPF will assist municipalities with their social program costs; include equalization measures; address challenges faced by northern and rural communities; and respond to policing costs in rural communities.
The introduction of the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund - a clear and transparent system of grants - is part of the government's on-going commitment to strong communities.
