Effective December 2016, the Ministry of Community and Social Services will eliminate the Drug Benefit Eligibility Card for social assistance recipients (this includes Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) recipients). Please find enclosed additional information on these changes.

Currently, some Service Managers rely on the Drug Benefit Eligibility Card to verify the benefit unit size for determining the applicable rent scale for social assistance recipients living in social housing.

Service Managers who wish to verify the number of social assistance beneficiaries may contact their local OW or ODSP office to request this information.

Thank you,

Carol Latimer
Director, Housing Policy
