The Provincial Rent Bank Program is funded by the Province of Ontario and administered by the province’s 47 Municipal Service Managers (SMs). Under this program, tenants facing eviction for non-payment of rent can apply to the local rent bank to receive financial assistance. If a tenant’s application is approved, the outstanding rent is paid directly to the landlord on behalf of the tenant.
Several SMs have arrangements with community-based agencies (e.g. the Salvation Army and the United Way). Service Managers and their Service Areas.
