The Social Housing Branch makes available an explanatory
Guide to Special Needs Housing. This guide has been updated to incorporate amendments to regulations under the
Social Housing Reform Act, 2000 and improve accuracy.
This guide incorporates three sets of regulation amendments which were filed on April 11, 2003, July 25, 2003 and February 27, 2004. These amendments made some changes to the lists of supportive housing providers in Ontario Regulations 298/01 and 456/01. O. Reg. 456/01 is included in this Guide as an appendix.
The guide is strictly explanatory in nature. It explains the requirements of the Social Housing Reform, 2000 and its regulations insofar as they pertain to special needs housing as defined under the Act.
Action required
Please replace any copies of the Guide to Special Needs Housing as revised on March 11, 2003, with the version attached to this notification. Service managers are asked to distribute copies of this updated guide to housing providers in their service area that are listed in the Appendix to the Guide as supportive housing providers.
Electronic copies of the English and French versions will be available on the ministry’s web site ( www.mah.gov.on.ca ) within approximately two weeks of this notification.
