As per subsection 24(4) of the Building Code Act, 1992, rulings of the Building Code Commission (BCC) are final.  The BCC makes its rulings based on evidence and testimony provided through written and verbal submissions.  Rulings of the BCC are site specific in nature relating only to the property address that was identified in the application for hearing.  The BCC posts its rulings on this webpage.  The rulings consist of the BCC’s decision, any associated conditions, the reasons for the decision and in some cases additional background such as a summary of the dispute that was before the BCC, the technical requirements from the Building Code that formed part of the dispute, a summary of the Applicant’s position, and a summary of the Respondent’s position.  In all cases, the BCC decision is final and is not precedent setting.
