The Town of Parry Sound’s website is the current MSO-NE OnRAMP feature.  The Town of Parry Sound (Population 5, 786) is the major commercial hub for northeastern Georgian Bay. Adjacent to the 30,000 Islands, the town is a service area for cottagers in west Parry Sound, boating enthusiasts and tourists visiting the many resorts and provincial parks in the area.

With the construction of a 4 lane divided highway now complete between Parry Sound and Toronto, and the active economic development plans of council, the Town of Parry Sound is poised to offer a superb lifestyle, a diversity of successful businesses and industries as well as quality education and health care.

At the centre of the Town’s economic development vision, is the Parry Sound Waterfront Plan which includes a waterfront commercial area, a marine and residential area including a proposed $15 Million waterfront development proposal and the Charles W. Stockey Centre www.charleswstockeycentre.com which is home to the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame.  A new 114,000' square retail development with Wal-Mart as the anchor store is now under construction.  The developer has also applied for Phase 2, which would allow for an additional 122,000' square of commercial space.  Wal-Mart is scheduled for opening in mid January, 2005.

The site where the Charles W. Stockey Centre now stands, is a former brownfield site which is featured in the Brownfields Showcase II Handbook produced by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Thanks to a proactive council commitment, strong local volunteer support, and cultural funding partnerships with the federal and provincial governments, the Stockey Centre is the centrepiece of Parry Sound’s waterfront  initiative.
